On one of my frequent trips I was gathering reference material and was thrilled to capture this area with the sunlight peaking through the pines, illuminating the ice on the shimmering waters and the aspen that seemed to reach for a little bit of the warmth of the sun.  Water is always one of my favorite things to paint.  The Blackfoot River is located in western MT east of Missoula.
