Last September I had the opportunity to paint in the NOAPS Great American Paint Out in Missoula, MT.  I was elated when one of my four painting entries was selected for First Place during the event.  

Maclay Flats is a large Recreation area and park on the west side of Missoula, located off the Blue Mountain Road.  The area is filled with wildlife and there are miles of hiking and nature trails and it borders on the Bitterroot River.  My favorite time to paint this park in in the falls.  I lived in Missoula for over 40 years and this Recreation area was always a favorite place to take students to paint.
