Welcome to My Website!

Hi,

My name is Marcia Ballowe and I'm a traditional realism landscape painter. I paint in a variety of mediums including oils and pastels.  In September, 2024, I achieved Signature Status in the Pastel Society of the West Coast.

I love to paint "Plein Air" in the field and then take these field studies to my studio to create larger studio pieces.  I use photography to help with the architectural accuracy of a place, but the field studies give me more accurate colors and values than photography, especially in the shadows.

I am driven to capture that dramatic lighting in the landscape in the early morning or late afternoon that brings a warm mood and glow to the landscape. That special light at those times of the day is captivating and moves me somewhere deep in my soul.

The goal of my art is to recreate these special moments when the light, earth, and sky sing together to remind us of our deep and abiding connection with the world around us.

I'm so happy that you've decided to join me on my adventure. Here are a few suggestions for what to explore next:
